Masters Tournament — Hotels, Badges & Week Planner
Your concierge guide to Augusta: where to stay, how to move, what to wear, and how to pace practice rounds, Par 3, and tournament days.
Masters week transforms Augusta into a precision-run golf festival. Expect early gate times, orderly queueing, road controls near Washington Road, and a steady flow of practice days, the Par 3 Contest on Wednesday, and four championship rounds Thursday–Sunday. Our playbook: place you close to preferred gates and plan timed transfers so your day feels unhurried.
We host guests in 4–5★ hotels and premium homes along the Washington Road corridor, Downtown Augusta, North Augusta (across the river), and Evans—prioritizing properties with reliable shuttles, later dining, and easy access to main arteries like I-20. Many travelers split their stay: downtown early week for restaurants and live music, then shift closer to the course for tournament days to reduce commute time.
Getting around: plan for private shuttles or pre-arranged SUVs with fixed pickup windows. Rideshare is available but typically uses geofenced staging outside the heaviest control zones—post-round, a short walk to an outer street often beats waiting at the main corral. If you’re driving, pre-purchase parking and arrive early; selected streets near the course become one-way or pedestrian-priority during peak windows.
Neighborhoods to know: Washington Road for quickest access and golf-centric dining; Downtown Augusta for Broad Street restaurants, bars, and galleries; North Augusta for riverfront calm; and Evans for suburban ease with larger homes. Our Masters Tournament Hotels page maps options by transfer time and gate strategy.
What to wear: polished golf-resort attire—breathable layers, performance polos, sundresses or smart separates, and comfortable walking shoes for undulating terrain (no metal spikes). Early April can be cool in the morning and warm by afternoon; a light sweater or packable rain shell is wise. Always review the official patron guidelines for device and bag policies.
Badges & viewing: practice days let you roam and photograph select areas; Wednesday’s Par 3 Contest is intimate and festive. Tournament days reward a blend of signature holes and roving: anchor at Amen Corner for drama, then rotate to vantage points with boards nearby. We’ll sanity-check your daily plan, preferred gates, and the fastest egress based on your seats and hospitality.
Sample week flow: Mon–Tue practice rounds + merchandise run; Wed Par 3 Contest + early dinner downtown; Thu–Fri rotating hole strategy with midday hospitality break; Sat featured groups + golden-hour walk; Sun leaders back nine, timed exit, celebratory dinner. Depart Mon after a slow morning.
